Responsibilities

As an intern at Virginia Hospital Center, your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in Daily Operations: Support the day-to-day functions of various departments, such as patient services, administration, nursing support, or information technology.
  • Participating in Clinical or Administrative Projects: Contribute to healthcare and administrative projects designed to improve patient outcomes, streamline operations, or enhance service delivery.
  • Conducting Data Collection and Analysis: Gather and analyze data related to patient care, hospital efficiency, or other areas depending on your assigned department.
  • Supporting Quality Assurance Initiatives: Assist in monitoring and promoting compliance with healthcare standards and procedures, contributing to patient safety and care quality.
  • Engaging in Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with healthcare teams and staff, preparing reports, summaries, and documentation as needed.
  • Professional Development: Participate in training sessions, mentorship meetings, and professional development workshops aimed at building industry knowledge and practical skills.
Qualifications
  • Current Enrollment: Must be currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program.
  • Relevant Field of Study: Majoring in healthcare administration, nursing, public health, medical technology, business administration, or a related field.
  • Academic Performance: A GPA of 3.0 or above is preferred.
Experience
  • Relevant Coursework or Projects: Completion of relevant coursework in healthcare management, public health, clinical support, or data analysis.
  • Prior Internship or Work Experience: Prior experience in healthcare, customer service, or administrative roles is advantageous but not required.
Skills
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with data analysis tools or electronic health record systems.
  • Analytical Abilities: Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail in data analysis, report preparation, and project execution.
