The Science Museum is offering exciting Summer Internship Opportunities for 2025 to motivated and passionate individuals interested in learning more about the world of science, history, and museum curation. These internships will provide participants with hands-on experience in various departments within the museum, while contributing to the development and execution of engaging exhibits, research, and educational programs.
Responsibilities
- Assist museum staff with the planning and execution of exhibitions, events, and public programs.
- Support research initiatives by compiling, organizing, and analyzing data related to collections and exhibitions.
- Contribute to the development of educational resources and materials for museum visitors.
- Help with the cataloging and conservation of museum collections, ensuring proper care and handling.
- Participate in behind-the-scenes tours and learn about museum operations and management.
- Engage with museum visitors by providing information, answering questions, and supporting interactive activities.
- Collaborate with teams across departments, including curatorial, education, marketing, and collections.
- Assist with administrative tasks, including maintaining records, preparing reports, and organizing events.
Qualifications
- Applicants must be 18 years or older by the start date of the internship.
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree program in a relevant field, such as History of Science, Museum Studies, Education, or similar.
- Strong interest in science, museums, and education.
- A commitment to learning and professional development in the museum sector.
Experience
- Prior internship, volunteer work, or experience in a museum, gallery, or science-related environment is beneficial but not required.
- Familiarity with basic research techniques and handling of collections is advantageous.
- Experience with public speaking or education is a plus.
Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact with diverse audiences.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- A proactive and enthusiastic attitude toward learning and contributing to projects.
- Basic computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and research tools.
