The MWAA Summer Internship Placements Program 2025 offers talented students an opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in airport operations, aviation management, and public services. This program is designed to provide interns with exposure to the various functions at the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA), which operates Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) and Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD). Interns will assist with ongoing projects, gain insights into the aviation industry, and enhance their professional development.
- Assist in various departments, including airport operations, facilities management, security, customer service, marketing, and public relations.
- Support teams in monitoring and maintaining airport facilities and ensuring compliance with aviation regulations.
- Conduct research, data collection, and analysis to support strategic planning, operational improvements, and safety initiatives.
- Help manage and assist in executing airport events, promotions, and marketing campaigns.
- Participate in the development and review of operational reports and presentations.
- Assist with customer service and support operations, helping to improve passenger experiences at DCA and IAD.
- Observe and assist with safety and security procedures, ensuring compliance with federal and local regulations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive efficiency in airport operations and services.
- Engage in departmental meetings, workshops, and training sessions to learn about airport management.
- Contribute to sustainability and environmental initiatives aimed at improving airport practices.
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program, ideally in Aviation Management, Business Administration, Hospitality, Public Administration, Engineering, or related fields.
- Must be a student in good academic standing with an expected graduation date of 2025 or later.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Availability to work full-time during the summer (typically 10-12 weeks, June to August).
- Previous internship or part-time work experience in airport operations, hospitality, customer service, or business is a plus but not required.
- Knowledge or interest in airport management, aviation, or transportation industries is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
