The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Internship Program for Recent Graduates offers recent college graduates the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the transportation industry. Responsibilities
- Assist in the design, implementation, and management of transportation infrastructure projects.
- Conduct research and data analysis related to transportation policies and programs.
- Participate in the preparation of reports, presentations, and other technical documents.
- Collaborate with team members to develop strategies and solutions for ongoing transportation challenges.
- Support the evaluation of transportation systems, projects, and technologies.
- Attend team meetings, trainings, and workshops to further enhance knowledge and skills in the field.
- Provide support to various FHWA departments as needed.
- Complete assigned tasks and projects within set timelines, ensuring compliance with FHWA guidelines and regulations.
Qualifications
- Recent graduate (within the last 2 years) with a degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Urban Planning, Public Policy, Environmental Science, or related field.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
- Strong interest in transportation infrastructure, highway systems, and public policy.
Experience
- No prior professional work experience required; however, relevant academic projects, internships, or volunteer work in transportation, urban planning, civil engineering, or similar fields will be considered an asset.
- Experience with technical software or analytical tools related to transportation engineering or public policy is a plus.
Skills
- Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
