Description

The English Institute of Sport (EIS) is offering exciting internship opportunities in 2025 for graduates and engineering students passionate about supporting world-class performance sport. As part of the EIS team, you will contribute to the development of innovative solutions that enhance the physical performance of athletes and assist with cutting-edge research projects in various areas, such as sports science, engineering, and technology. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain practical experience in a dynamic, high-performance environment and work alongside experts in the field of sports technology and engineering.

Responsibilities
  • Research and Development: Collaborate with senior engineers and researchers to design, test, and implement new technologies aimed at improving athletic performance. This includes data analysis, equipment testing, and software development for performance enhancement tools.
  • Product Design & Prototyping: Assist in the creation and iteration of prototypes for new sports technology and tools. Contribute to the process of refining design concepts to meet the performance needs of elite athletes.
  • Support Engineering Teams: Work with multidisciplinary teams to deliver technical support and solutions that drive improvement in athlete training and recovery techniques.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Collect, analyze, and interpret data generated from experimental setups, athlete testing, and engineering systems. Present findings through reports and presentations to relevant teams.
  • Quality Assurance: Assist with the validation and quality control of engineering systems and equipment. Help in identifying potential improvements or issues with existing setups.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with scientists, performance analysts, and other stakeholders to align engineering solutions with the needs of athletes and coaches.
Qualifications
  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Sports Science, Data Science, Technology, or a related field.
  • Recent graduates (within the last two years) or students in the final year of their degree program are encouraged to apply.
Experience
  • Desirable: Practical experience in engineering, sports science, or related fields, whether through internships, university projects, or previous work placements.
  • Experience in data analysis or research-based roles will be an advantage.
  • A passion for sports and performance technology is highly desirable.
