The purpose of the DARPA Summer Internship Program is to give students a platform to contribute to high-impact research projects while advancing their technical and analytical skills. Interns will work directly with DARPA teams to tackle complex challenges, participate in experimental designs, and support national security-focused research and development efforts.
- Contribute to Research Projects: Assist in DARPA-funded research projects within areas such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, biotechnology, autonomous systems, and advanced materials.
- Data Collection and Analysis: Conduct data collection, processing, and analysis tasks to support experimental and research objectives.
- Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with DARPA scientists, engineers, and program managers to understand project goals and deliver on research tasks.
- Report and Present Findings: Develop reports, presentations, and technical documentation summarizing findings and progress on assigned projects.
- Participate in Strategy Sessions: Attend meetings, briefings, and brainstorming sessions to gain insight into project planning and development processes.
- Support Experimentation and Prototyping: Assist in testing, prototyping, and developing experimental models or simulations as required.
- Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree in a relevant field, such as Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Biotechnology, or other STEM-related fields.
- Academic Standing: A minimum GPA of 3.0 is preferred, with a strong record in courses related to research and technology.
- Clearance Eligibility: Candidates may need to meet eligibility requirements for a security clearance.
- Relevant Coursework: Coursework in areas such as machine learning, cybersecurity, systems engineering, data analysis, and materials science is beneficial.
- Research Experience: Prior experience in research labs, academic projects, or related internships is highly desirable.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with relevant software, tools, and programming languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB, C++, or R) is an asset.
- Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and synthesize complex information.
- Technical Proficiency: Comfort with data analysis, software tools, and technical research methodologies.
