The FPL (Florida Power & Light) Internship for Students Program 2025 offers university students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the energy industry. Interns will work with industry experts on innovative projects and gain valuable insights into the operations of one of the nation’s largest energy providers. This internship program is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in energy, sustainability, and utilities management, helping them develop skills that will be valuable in future careers in the energy sector.

Responsibilities

Interns will participate in a variety of tasks and projects that will give them a comprehensive view of the energy industry, including:

  • Project Support: Assist with ongoing projects in various departments such as engineering, operations, renewable energy, and customer service.
  • Research & Data Analysis: Conduct research and assist in analyzing data related to energy consumption, sustainability initiatives, or technological advancements in the energy field.
  • Engineering Assistance: Support engineering teams with technical tasks, including drafting, design, and systems analysis.
  • Operational Tasks: Observe and contribute to the day-to-day operations of energy generation and distribution.
  • Sustainability Initiatives: Assist with projects aimed at improving energy efficiency, reducing emissions, and promoting renewable energy solutions.
  • Collaboration: Work alongside other interns and FPL team members to contribute to innovative ideas and solutions for real-world energy challenges.
  • Presentations & Reports: Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings and project progress to managers and stakeholders.
Qualifications

To be considered for the FPL Internship for Students Program 2025, candidates should meet the following criteria:

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Environmental Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Must have completed at least two years of coursework by the start of the internship.
  • A strong academic record, preferably with a focus on energy-related studies or technical disciplines.
  • Must be able to commit to the full duration of the internship program.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with diverse teams.
Experience
  • No prior work experience is required, but previous involvement in energy-related projects, engineering, or sustainability initiatives will be considered a plus.
  • Participation in relevant extracurricular activities, research projects, or internships in energy, engineering, or technology is an asset.
Skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Analytical skills with a focus on data collection, analysis, and problem-solving.
  • Technical proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and familiarity with data analysis tools (e.g., MATLAB, Python) is preferred.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment.
