The Idaho Power Summer Internship Engineering 2025 program is designed for college students pursuing a degree in engineering who are seeking hands-on experience in the power industry. This internship provides an excellent opportunity to work with a leading utility company, gain valuable insights into the energy sector, and develop engineering skills through real-world projects. The selected intern will collaborate with experienced engineers and contribute to the success of Idaho Power’s engineering initiatives.
- Assist engineering teams with the design, analysis, and implementation of electrical, mechanical, or civil systems and infrastructure.
- Support the development and improvement of utility infrastructure projects, including power generation, transmission, and distribution systems.
- Work on engineering calculations, data analysis, modeling, and simulation.
- Perform site inspections and assist with project management tasks, ensuring safety and compliance with regulations.
- Document engineering processes and results, preparing reports and presentations for internal stakeholders.
- Participate in team meetings, collaborating with engineers and other departments to solve technical challenges.
- Learn about Idaho Power’s operations, systems, and technology while contributing to ongoing engineering projects.
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Available to work full-time during the summer internship period (typically May through August).
- Must be able to legally work in the United States.
- Must be able to work independently and in a team environment.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Previous internship experience in engineering or a related field is a plus, but not required.
- Familiarity with engineering design software and tools is advantageous (e.g., AutoCAD, MATLAB, SolidWorks, or other industry-specific tools).
- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on technical analysis and troubleshooting.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
