The Lexington Medical Center Internship Program for 2025 offers a unique opportunity for students and recent graduates to gain real-world experience in healthcare settings. Interns will work closely with medical professionals and staff across various departments, gaining valuable exposure to hospital operations, patient care, medical research, administration, and healthcare management. - Assist healthcare professionals in various clinical and non-clinical departments including patient care, administration, medical research, human resources, and hospital operations.
- Support patient intake processes, including data entry, documentation, and scheduling.
- Observe and assist in medical procedures and patient care, under the guidance of licensed staff.
- Participate in daily departmental activities such as meetings, patient rounds, and quality assurance initiatives.
- Help with the preparation and management of patient records, reports, and medical charts.
- Assist with administrative duties, including filing, organizing medical records, and helping to maintain inventory.
- Conduct research and assist with medical data analysis, reporting findings to relevant departments.
- Support community outreach programs, health education campaigns, and patient education materials.
- Provide excellent customer service to patients, visitors, and staff.
- Participate in professional development sessions, networking events, and hospital tours.
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a college or university program in healthcare administration, nursing, medical research, public health, or a related field.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 preferred.
- Eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
- Must be able to commit to the full duration of the internship.
- No prior healthcare experience is required; however, any previous internship, volunteer work, or part-time employment in healthcare settings is a plus.
- Experience in customer service or working in a team-oriented environment is an advantage.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology and healthcare procedures is helpful but not required.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a willingness to learn.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
