Responsibilities
- Support Emergency Operations: Assist in the day-to-day operations of the London Ambulance Service (LAS) by shadowing paramedics, emergency medical technicians (EMTs), and other professionals. Learn about the logistics and coordination involved in responding to emergency calls.
- Patient Care Assistance: Observe and participate in non-clinical aspects of patient care, including assisting with transporting patients and supporting medical staff during emergency responses (under supervision).
- Administrative Support: Contribute to the maintenance of patient records, data entry, and filing. Assist with administrative tasks that ensure smooth operational functioning.
- Collaboration & Teamwork: Work closely with LAS staff and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality care. Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions on service improvements.
- Learning & Development: Participate in structured learning activities, including formal training, shadowing professionals, and attending workshops. Gain a deeper understanding of the role of ambulance services in the healthcare system.
- Health & Safety: Follow all safety protocols and guidelines while on duty, ensuring the well-being of both staff and patients.
Qualifications
- Eligibility: Open to individuals aged 18 years and over.
- Academic Requirements: A minimum of 5 GCSEs (Grade 4/C or above), including English and Maths. Alternatively, A-Level qualifications or equivalent qualifications in health, science, or a related field are desirable but not mandatory.
- Driving License: A valid UK driving license is advantageous but not essential for all roles.
Experience
- Previous Experience: No prior experience in the ambulance or healthcare sector is required, though an interest in healthcare, first aid, or emergency services is beneficial.
- Work Experience: Any prior work experience, especially in healthcare, customer service, or similar environments, is considered an advantage but not essential.

- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to liaise effectively with colleagues, patients, and the public.
