Description

The Navy Research Internship for Intelligent Students Program is designed to immerse talented college students in cutting-edge research projects within the U.S. Navy. This program provides interns with the opportunity to work alongside scientists, engineers, and experts in fields such as cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, data science, and oceanography. Interns will contribute to impactful research, gain experience in advanced technologies, and support national security efforts.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in research projects led by Navy scientists and engineers in areas such as machine learning, robotics, data analysis, and engineering design.
  • Conduct experiments, collect and analyze data, and document findings in a clear, professional manner.
  • Assist in developing innovative solutions to complex technical challenges faced by the Navy.
  • Collaborate with team members on project development, testing, and evaluation phases.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and technical documentation to communicate project results.
  • Attend seminars and briefings on Navy research initiatives and national security topics.
Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited college or university, with a focus in STEM fields (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field).
  • Junior, Senior, or Graduate student standing is preferred.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.5 or higher.
Experience
  • Previous research experience, academic projects, or internships related to data science, cybersecurity, engineering, or robotics is preferred.
  • Familiarity with scientific research methods and techniques.
Skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or MATLAB.
  • Knowledge of data analysis tools, statistical software, and lab equipment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
