Responsibilities
  • Assist NHS 111 clinical and call-handling teams in managing patient calls and providing appropriate guidance in a timely manner.
  • Support the triage process by gathering patient information and documenting it accurately.
  • Learn how to assess patient needs and direct them to the correct level of care, including urgent care centers, GPs, or emergency services.
  • Participate in training and shadowing experiences to build clinical and communication skills.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure patient concerns are addressed and follow-up is completed when necessary.
  • Contribute to the administration of call data, ensuring it is accurately recorded and processed.
  • Ensure compliance with NHS policies and procedures, maintaining patient confidentiality and safeguarding standards.
  • Provide general support in office tasks and coordination across various departments as directed by your supervisor.
Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a healthcare-related program (e.g., nursing, paramedicine, public health, or related field).
  • GCSEs or equivalent qualifications, including English and Mathematics.
  • A strong interest in healthcare, particularly in urgent care and public health services.
  • Commitment to learning and personal development in a healthcare setting.
Experience
  • Previous experience in a healthcare environment, such as volunteering, work experience, or clinical placements, is advantageous but not essential.
  • No prior NHS 111-specific experience required as full training will be provided.
  • Experience in customer service or working in a fast-paced environment is beneficial.
Skills
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Basic understanding of healthcare systems and patient care is desirable.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team as well as independently.
