Description

The purpose of the Philadelphia Airport Internship Program is to provide high school students with meaningful, real-world exposure to airport operations, customer service, and aviation-related fields. This internship offers students the chance to learn about career opportunities within the aviation industry, develop professional skills, and gain an understanding of how an airport operates.

Responsibilities
  • Support Airport Operations: Assist in daily operations within various departments, including Customer Service, Operations, and Facilities.
  • Customer Assistance: Provide support to travelers by answering questions, directing them to gates and services, and assisting with general inquiries.
  • Learn Safety Protocols: Observe safety procedures and protocols within airport facilities, gaining knowledge about security and safety measures.
  • Participate in Tours and Training: Attend training sessions, airport tours, and job shadowing opportunities to learn about different aspects of airport functions.
  • Assist with Events and Promotions: Help with airport-hosted events, educational tours, and promotional activities.
  • Work with Airport Teams: Collaborate with various airport teams and departments to gain insight into the operations and contribute to ongoing projects.
Qualifications
  • Education: Current high school student (sophomore, junior, or senior) in good academic standing.
  • Age Requirement: Must be at least 16 years old at the start of the internship.
  • Interest in Aviation: Demonstrated interest in aviation, customer service, or related fields.
Experience
  • Volunteer or Part-Time Work: Previous volunteer work, part-time employment, or extracurricular activities that demonstrate responsibility and commitment is a plus.
  • Community Involvement: Involvement in school clubs, sports, or other organizations that reflect teamwork
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with both travelers and airport staff.
  • Customer Service: Friendly, courteous, and able to assist customers with patience and professionalism.
  • Time Management: Ability to balance multiple tasks and responsibilities efficiently.
  • Problem-Solving: Willingness to think creatively and solve basic problems as they arise.
